How do I remove the exterior door handle from a 2006 Jaguar xj8l?

Question by Edward K: How do I remove the exterior door handle from a 2006 Jaguar xj8l?
I’ve got a trouble light inside the door. I can see everything, but it doesn’t make sense. I need to remove the handle so I can paint the door. The local Jag dealership is no help they want me to bring it in for service. It’s a pull out style handle with the round bar.

If you have the money to buy an ’06 Jag, take it to the mechanic.

That said, you will likely have to remove the door panel to get to the inside of the handle to get it off. Most cannot be removed just from the outside, as this would make them easy to steal.
