The KD-R810 features a Full-Dot LCD with JVC’s Separated Variable-Color. Personalize your stereo to match your vehicle’s interior illumination colors. Separated variable color lets you use two separate colors from a choice of over 30,000 options to create your own color scheme.
Built-in Bluetooth Wireless Technology
Drive more safely (or legally depending on where you live) with hands-free calling. The included wired microphone offers flexible settings for clear communication. The Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP) for iPhone lets you automatically access your phone book without transfer. You can also manually transfer up to 400 numbers from compatible cell phones. Changing from hands-free to a private conversation can be done by a push of a key. You can also easily switch Bluetooth connection between 2 phones, such as for business/private use.
CD and USB Audio
Play back your favorite CDs and CD-R/RW discs, or go with a USB thumb drive or other USB device for enjoyment of your WAV, MP3, or WMA audio files. You can also pop in a CD-R full of digital audio files if you’d prefer that route.
A TI/Burr-Brown 24-bit converter ensures quality sound, and you can Dial it in to your liking with the three-band parametric EQ.
USB Audio and Video for iPod/iPhone
The USB connection for iPod/iPhone provides clear digital sound directly from your iPod or iPhone. Great Bluetooth Capable Stereo for the $$$,
I purchased this unit for the bluetooth features and it didn’t disappoint! The installation into my ’06 Dodge Stratus was a breeze (took all of an hour and that was with some distractions) and it started up on the first attempt. Getting my DroidX connected was even easier, and once I started Pandora up, I knew that it was well worth every cent. The quality over the bluetooth connection is incredible! The sound quality is perfect… sounds like I’m listening to a CD! Also, the wired mic is long enough to snake it through my car without wires dangling all over the place and makes call quality sound like I’m talking directly into the phone. Everyone I’ve talked to has told me that I sound fine and, with them coming through my stereo speakers, I have no trouble hearing them. The menu system on the unit is easy enough to navigate… the one thing I kinda wish it had was a one-touch voice dial. Instead, you have to hit the call button, select voice dial, and hit select in order to get to it… not a huge deal (definitely not enough to warrant a drop in stars), but just wishful thinking.
This isn’t even to mention the stereo sound quality… I’ve only got stereo speakers, but just the addition of the unit improved my sound quality immensely. I’m not an audiophile and I bought the unit pretty much just for the bluetooth, but the stereo quality was definitely an added bonus.
Overall, great buy for the money (especially since GOOD units with Bluetooth included are >$200)!!! Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a good quality stereo with bluetooth included.

|Great set of features,
Needed to replace an older Kenwood unit that got stolen out of my truck and narrowed my selection down to the JVC KD-R810. So far I’m really liking the unit and it only cost a little bit more than the barebones head unit from 5 years ago. Bluetooth works great, more than enough power for my stock speakers and iPod integration is better than most units I’ve used. iPod browsing is pretty fast and actually usable (which can’t be said for the factory media interface in our VW). One of the preset background colors matches the orange/red dash backlighting in my Tacoma exactly, looks really slick. You can mix your own colors if the 30 or so presets don’t match.
The only con is that the Bluetooth takes up a USB port leaving one for your iPod/phone/thumb drive. I plugged that one into the front USB port so it’d be easy to take the faceplate off. The rear USB cable got routed through a hole I drilled in the pocket of my dash kit where I can plug in a USB device and not have it dangling off the front of the unit.

|The best A2DP Bluetooth audio headunit,
For receiving A2DP Bluetooth stereo audio from your phone or mobile device, this is the best headunit available. I’ve researched all headunits available as of August 2010 and this JVC has the most features and best functionality at the lowest price.
Here are the notable good features:

Relatively simple configuration menus
Comparing this to other A2DP receiving units, the JVC wins on price and features. The next cheapest A2DP unit to have variable colors is the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X994 at twice the JVC’s price. The more expensive Kenwood KDC-BT945U is the closest competitor, but reviews said its user interface is unnecessarily complex.
There are lower priced A2DP units, but they are weak. I don’t like Sony products, thus dismissed the Sony MEX-BT2800. Reviewers say the similarly priced Clarion CZ500 is too hard to use and the A2DP makes itself the default input every time you turn on the car, even if you last had it set to radio or CD. Reviewers say the slightly more expensive Dual XHD7714 is poorly made and quickly breaks or stops working.
Alpine gets the biggest fail for A2DP receivers, requiring the Alpine KCE-400BT bulky external Bluetooth receiver which costs as much as the JVC. Pairing that with their lowest-end unit, the Alpine CDE-102, the total price is double that of the JVC!
This leaves the JVC KD-R810 as the best value for an A2DP Bluetooth receiver. It streams audio from my phone clearly, even with the phone in the trunk! It also provides simple control over the A2DP audio, saving you from fiddling with your phone. It automatically connects to the phone for calls and A2DP and lets you disable one or both of those connections. If my phone has another Bluetooth device connected, the JVC won’t connect, but will connect as soon as I turn that other device off.
Oh, and about the rest of the unit. It has good sound quality, simple controls and menus, very flexible variable color options, and simple iPod controls. The only drawback is the metallic accents on the faceplate. I’d prefer it look more plain, but I can look past that considering all the benefits.
As you can see, this is the best A2DP Bluetooth stereo audio receiving headunit as of August 2010. Even in the future, this unit has enough features to keep it relevant for years. Enjoy.
