First, let’s be clear: like any cable lock, this is NOT meant to securely lock a bike. The product tag says it well: “perfect for accessory lock-up or use as a secondary deterrent”. This is designed to lock things like your helmet to your already-U-locked bike, or to lock your wheels/bike to the wall inside your also-locked garage at home.

As such, I give it 4.5 stars, especially on sale. The cable, although fairly thick, is flexible and robustly coated so it doesn’t scratch/rust; the resettable combo lock is nicely streamlined into the cable, and it’s straightforward to change the combo with the lock open.

My single 1/2-star quibble is that this model doesn’t come with a tube mounting bracket, as do the higher-end Kryptonite cable locks.

Dont know what the previous reviewer meant about not being able to set your own combo, did you read the instructions? If so return it, its defective. I wanted a U lock but couldnt find a wide enough one for my liking. this cable should be long enough to not have to take the wheels off the bike. hope it never gets tampered with. bought it on sale at a local store. mounting bracket works very well.

Several people have to get into my farm for various chores, and it is inconvenient to provide each of them with a key, so I was looking for a good combo lock that would be strong enough to do the job. This Kryptonite lock was just the right thing, and the price was much cheaper than the keyed locks I was looking at.
