Ka Max Mode gives you improved Ka Band sensitivity. Radar Signature ID displays known Ka gun frequencies to help distinguish threats, and Laser Signature ID does the same by displaying pulses per second of received laser signals. Take advantage of 360-degree coverage for all radar and laser bands, Whistler’s patented POP-mode detection, and a wealth of bonus features like a 72-point digital compass and vehicle battery voltmeter.

This unit features Whistler’s low-profile “alert periscope” LEDs that flash when the unit alarms. |
Choose from 7 different display colors. For example, X band can alarm in Green, K band in Red and Ka can scroll all the colors. |
Ka RSID (Ka Radar Signal IDentifier)
Identify the difference between the likelihood of a Ka threat vs. the likelihood of a Ka false from another source (possible radar detector). The Ka RSID feature will educate you to the common Ka speed radar guns by displaying the nominal police radar frequencies of 33.8GHz / 34.0GHz / 34.3GHz / 34.7GHz / 35.5GHz. The Ka alerts that do not fall into the common Ka speed radar windows will be reported only as Ka.
LSID (Laser Signal IDentifier)
Identify the Laser gun’s pulse rate or PPS (Pulses Per Second) that is transmitted by the speed laser gun. LSID may also be used to identify other forms of laser sources such as LACC (Laser Assisted Cruise Control) systems found in some high end vehicles. If the Laser PPS information displayed is due to another source such as local airports or LACC, LSID allows you to Lock Out this rate from giving you the continuous audio alert during this and any new encounter of the same rate.
Three Filtering Mode
There are times when a radar detector can emit the same frequency as police radar and can cause your detector to falsely alarm. Sometimes a detector can display a signal when picking up another radar detector in vehicle close by. The Whistler Filter Mode options provide additional signal processing to minimize the occurrences of these false alarms. Filter mode provides normal processing. Filter 1 and Filter 2 modes provide additional signal analysis before alarming.
7 Color Backlit LCD Text Display
The XTR-695SE’s brilliant text display provides distinct visual confirmation of signals detected, signal strength, and indicates engaged modes of operation. You can choose from 7 different display colors for a bit of personalization, even assigning a different color for each band, or scrolling colors.
72 Point Digital Compass
Keep your bearing visible to stay oriented, and get accurate voice alerts.
Vehicle Battery Monitor
The vehicles battery voltage can be displayed at the press of a button, so you can monitor your battery level.
External Audio Jack
The 2.5mm external audio jack can be used to connect an external speaker or headphones in environments with high ambient noise levels. The internal speaker will be disconnected.
INTELLICORD Ready
Add the Whistler INTELLICORD and you’ll be able to remotely control the radar detector in settings such as power on/off, city modes, dim/dark and quiet/auto quiet with a simple press of a button.
Real Voice Alerts
Real Voice provides added information to the detected signal over and above the simple band ID tones. The unit says “X band” when it detects an X band signal. This allows you to keep your eyes on-the-road. Real Voice is also used to articulate Safety Warning System messages and feature selections. Real Voice will be used to articulate the following:
- Band Identification
- Safety Warning System messages
- Feature Selection
POP Mode Alerts
There are new guns out there that operate just like the instant-on guns of the past but with a very tough new twist–POP mode. This new gun is a normal K and Ka band radar gun detectable by most radar detectors made in the past 30 years until it’s in POP mode. When the gun is in POP Mode and activated, a brief burst of energy, less than 1/15 of a second, is transmitted and the vehicle’s speed is quickly acquired. A detector without POP Mode detection capability cannot respond to this brief transmission. This one can.
Low Profile Alert Periscopes
Whistler’s Low Profile Alert Periscopes provide an added attention getting visual alert. The two extra LEDs flash on and off when the unit alarms to provide a unique visual alert.
Selectable Total Band Protection
This unit provides complete band coverage of all Laser, Radar (X, K, and Ka bands), VG-2, and Safety Radar bands. You can select which bands to leave on or off based on your detection needs.
360 Degree Protection
Units with 360 protection detect signals from all radar, laser, VG-2 and safety radar systems wherever they come from; front, rear or from the side. Ka Max Mode provides enhanced Ka sensitivity for increased protection.
3 City Modes/Highway Mode
Highway mode provides full audio and visual warning of laser/radar systems while maintaining full sensitivity. Highway mode is the default setting of all Whistler’s laser/radar detectors. City mode helps reduce the annoyance of automatic door openers and burglar alarm alerts by providing an initial alert (same distance as Highway Mode) then remaining quiet unless the signal strength becomes very strong. When the signal increases the unit will alert briefly to notify you of the change in signal strength.
Stay Alert
The Stay Alert feature is designed to test a driver’s alertness. Within 30 to 60 seconds after the feature is engaged an alert is sounded; to show alertness, the driver must press the volume, city or the mute button within 3-5 seconds. If a button is pressed within 3-5 seconds, the cycle is repeated. If a button was not pressed within 3-5 seconds the unit alarms at full volume and the display shows an unique visual alert.
Auto Dim Mode
The Auto Dim feature automatically switches the illumination of the text display between the bright and dim settings according to varying light conditions so that the text display will always be easy to read.
Quiet/Auto Quiet Modes
Pressing QUIET before a signal is detected engages Auto Quiet Mode, which automatically reduces the audio level after the initial warning to a low audio level setting. Pressing QUIET during a radar/laser encounter silences audio alerts, while allowing visual alerts to keep you informed.
Alert Priority
When two or more signals are received at the same time, the alert priority is: Laser, VG-2, Speed Radar, Safety Radar.
Example: If X band is alerting, then suddenly a VG-2 signal is detected, the VG-2 warning will override the X band alert.
Vehicle Battery Saver Mode
The Vehicle Battery Saver Mode automatically shuts off your detector within 3 hours if you forget to turn it off. The timer is reset if the detector is turned off, unplugged or any button is pressed before the 6 hours have expired. The detector will alert you with an audible and visual warning before it shuts off.
Safety Warning System–SWS
This relatively new radar is not for speed detection at all, it is used to keep you informed of highway safety. Transmitters are installed and programmed (for example: in emergency vehicles) to make you aware of possible situations that may require your attention, such as: ambulance vehicles that are moving or stationary, road hazards ahead, road construction delays or detours, etc.

Sony DSX-S100,
Customer Video Review Length:: 2:25 Mins
Hey y’all. this is my video review of the sony dsx-s100.

|Great for the price,
So far I have been very happy with this unit. I am not much of an audiophile so I won’t review the sound quality other than to say that it meets my needs. It plays my music in my car and I’m satisfied with the sound.
I find the ipod controls to be logical and easy. You get basic control of the ipod, being able to scroll through artists, songs, albums etc using the volume knob the same way you would the click wheel. I haven’t had any difficulty with it. There are other units that have better interaction with the ipod but they cost twice as much. Besides – I would hope most people wouldn’t be dinking around that much with their stereo while they are driving. The charging feature is excellent – since I purchased this stereo I have never had my ipod die on me.
So far I have been happy with radio reception – mostly listening to AM.
A few small complaints – sometimes the stereo will turn on automatically when I plug in the ipod and just start playing. Not a big deal though – I just try and make a point of making sure the volume is turned down low when I turn it off. I wish it had come with a carrying case for the faceplate – but these can be obtained for ten dollars or less. The faceplate itself is kind of difficult to put back on to the stereo – I wish they had designed that aspect to be a little bit easier.
If any of you are audiobook listeners – I have encountered this strange occurrence. If anyone is an Audible member you are familiar with the extremely helpful resume feature that takes you right back to the place in the book you left off. I have found that if I listen to an audiobook while hooked up via the USB port – something about how the stereo is interacting with the ipod makes the audiobook reset and forgets my place. If I use the external audio in jack instead of the USB port, this is not an issue.

|Upgrade for RV Stereo,
After doing a bunch of research I decided that this Sony receiver (DSXS100) was the best choice to replace the existing stereo receiver in our 1995 Winnebago Brave RV.
The main reasons for picking this unit was the ability to insert/connect an Apple Ipod (or other USB devices) inside the unit (out-of-sight) and the external audio input jack on the front of the unit to allow us to connect external audio sources such as our new flat LCD wide-screen television.
Installing the unit wasn’t too hard since the RV was new enough to be using the DIN style of mounting. I did have to make a custom cable harness to connect the unit to the RV wiring harness and to split the common wiring between the left and right channels of the RV’s speakers.
The remote for the unit is nice and gives us the ability to easily control the unit and select songs in the Apple Ipod.
The unit works great and now we have a full library of tunes via our Apple Ipod while both traveling and staying in our RV and not have to mess with a lot of wires or have the Apple Ipod flopping around.

|Worth every penny. No problems at all.,
I really appreciate the ID feature, because when it shows a frequency it is almost certainly a police radar, not a false alert. I also like the ability to select the backlight color, as my dash lights are red and the detector doesn’t clash.
Some other reviews complain that the display is difficult to read in direct sunlight, but I drive a convertible and have no problems with readability. Depending on the way you mount it, you can get a reflection off of the glossy screen, but that’s expected with any LCD. Maybe their real problem was the interior color of their car was too light, making the reflection too bright to see through. The backlight may be too dim to see in daylight, but you don’t need one unless it’s dark. You can see the color for identifying the type of radar when set to bright. A voice announces the signal, so you don’t need to see the display anyway.
The compass display isn’t accurate enough to use in a boat, but plenty good for the “one of two directions” choice you face when driving a car. You do have to re-calibrate per instructions when you first mount the detector, or the compass will appear to be stuck.
Be careful when selecting your purchase to get the SE model. Amazon listed the XTR-695 without the SE suffix, and those are the older, less sensitive model.

|Does its job well,
The job of a radar detector is twofold. First,to give advance warning of police radar traps so you can check your speed and slow down if necessary. The second purpose is to remind the driver to attend to his driving. The Whistler XTR-695SE does both very well. As far as I can tell, it has warned me well in advance of a radar car down the road. The Whistler’s entertaining and informative display along with its occasional but regular falsing on Ka-band in suburban driving keep one plenty alert. I find it best to disable the POP radar feature in built-up areas since it causes excessive falsing. It’s also the case that POP radar is not used around here. The light-show LCD display is actually helpful as long as bright sunlight doesn’t prevent you from seeing it. The Whistler 695SE is a terrific value and the best of the six or so radar detectors I have owned over the years.

|Great gear, but..,
I originally purchased this product because 1) it was one of the cheaper items ranked highly and 2) I owned a Whistler prior to this purchase. The gear works great. You can set a compass, and change face colors. Compared to my previous generation Whistler, this one by far is not set off as much my false alarms, random X band security systems, etc. It’s very responsive and seems to keep my attention. My only complaint (and a big one to me) is they changed the face away from LED lighting compared to the previous generation. The face is that faint green lighting that you would see in some 80′s electronics. This makes it nearly impossible to see if the radar is even on during the broad daylight. However, if it’s not day time, it’s not near a distraction as the bright LED lighted face from the older models. So if you do the majority of your driving during the middle of the day, you won’t be able to see the face of this model.
