What is the best car on the market to use for drifting?

Question by Joe Blow: What is the best car on the market to use for drifting?
I’m am young man who has drifted for a few years now with a front wheel drive stock Ford Focus and has used the car to learn the tricks of the trade and earn money. Now I’m requesting that someone answer this question so I may buy a better car to use on the circuit and become even better at drifting. It does not matter if the car you suggest needs to be modified or not as long as you can give your thoughts on the matter.

Best answer:

nissan 240 sx 1989-1996

Any rear wheel drive car is going to be better than any FWD. Get something that will be easy and cheap to maintain and modify. Any previous generation mustang, or even Miata’s and Nissan 240s will work well, though they will need more power. A bitchin’ camaro should work as well but you will have to really alter the suspension to get it to handle right. If you can afford them, the modern FM-chassis nissans (350z and Infiniti G) would be fantastic.

I would say GTO or Mustang anything with rearwheel drive and atleast 300hp.

Nissan 180sx, 240sx, S14, S15. All of these will drift like a dream. All you might need to modify would be the suspension.

RWD, and you dont need alot of horsepower, contrary to popular belief.

I am in Okinawa Japan, the birthplace of drifting, and these guys run cars that are well under 200hp. Its all about suspension, shifting and pedal-work.
