What is the best engine upgrade to do to a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse?

I know nothing about cars but there’s just an empty feeling when I drive. Not enough power. I drive a 4 cylinder Mitsubishi Eclipse and I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on how i could soup it up a little.

What is the engine code for the engine currently? If its a 4G63 that’s great! Theres many things you can do to 4 bangers and get power, I’ll give you a list.

1st. CAI (Cold Air Intake)

2nd. Short Shifter (If its manaul) btw it gives you better shifting times!

3rd. One of the best upgrades would be a turbo considering if you do it right you don’t want to take shortcuts if you go the turbo route as it can cause many problems.

4th. Buy some better internals, for example, Forged (Turbo/Nos), dome or flatop. You could also probably bore the engine out and possibly run a stroker kit.

5th. Exhaust, many people call 4 bangers with big mufflers (Fart Cans) but what they don’t know it actually increases your HP and gives you better exhaust flow, the more restrictive the exhuast flow the less power you will make. Don’t just throw a muffler on there though and expect much of a difference get full exhaust (Headers, Piping, and muffler, also make sure to run a cat if you want to pass emessions.)

6th. Spark plugs and wires, I prefer a set of NGK Plugs and Wires (Best).

On a side note if you go the turbo route and stick to stock internals don’t ever overboost it which would cause you to grenade your engine, in other words no engine no car ;) . Also get it tuned right you would like to make it reliable as possibly and free up some hp and tq.

Hope this gives you some help

Just a word of advice to if you want respect from follow eclipse enthusiasts never ever throw a spoiler on there, the stock one is just fine :D . That’s considered ricey, FWD has no purpose for a wing, :p.
